Chat Room
To start a chat:
Log into the chat room and then TELL US. Some ways of doing
this are to send the list a message, to post a status message about it on
your IM list (many of us are on Yahoo Messenger for obvious reasons) and/or
to IM all your friends to tell them. It takes a little time, but in maybe 30 minutes or so, the party will be
hopping, and you don't even need to provide drinks!

How to get a chat ID:
Please email the Chat Admin with...
- "Request for GenX-M Chat ID" as the subject
- Your real name
- Your email address
- Your Yahoo ID that connects with the GenX-M Yahoo group
- Your desired chat ID. No passwords, please.
You will recieve a prompt reply with a temporary password which you may later change.
Chatiquette:
- Making a fashionable exit - It's appropriate to greet people as they join and leave the room. Not mandatory, but it's nice. For that reason, if you're leaving the room, it's also appropriate to announce your departure and allow 30 seconds or so before ducking out. That way, the people who are paying attention can bid you adieu.
- Grudges - Ok, so not everybody here agrees on everything, and not everybody here likes one another, but chat isn't the place to rehash that (whether the person is present or not).
- Personal business. At this point, it's against the list rules to post another person's personal business on this list and this covers information disclosed in chat. Yes, it's still a GenX-M forum, but a lot of times people who note who's in the room before saying something. The information may not be intended for everyone here.
- This chat room is not moderated, and what is posted above is more about getting along than anything else.
